I was engaged in deep discussion at the table with my sister, and Lady Oakey popped up and joined the conversation. I have a deep affection for hens and roosters, especially the beautiful colours of their feathers and the curve of their silhouette.
I decided to push out the colours to a greater degree to reflect the beautiful colours in the sunlight. This one has a definite impressionist influence, and I enjoyed painting her immensely.
