There is an old native bottlebrush tree in my backyard. I had a similar one in my front yard when I was growing up. I sometimes find myself lying on the grass beneath the bottlebrush tree in my yard, looking up as its sweeping branches framed the endless blue sky above. This painting is a reflection on how the simplest moments—like staring up at the sky through the branches—can become lasting imprints, quietly shaping the way we remember and find solace in the world around us.
