I’ve been doing a lot more travel around Australia, getting to know my own country since COVID. During our trip through Eastern Australia, I came across Waratah in paddocks and bushland everywhere and so this study of these amazing blossoms came to be.
This painting evolved using transparency through a multilayered process to achieve the surface quality. The final colour and tone are only evident with final layer.
