Inspired by a recent commission I was itching to expand on the idea of ‘memory of place from childhood’ as I created this larger work. A little different from the first piece, this time I used colours reminiscent of birthday cakes, time spent diving into the deep aqua water and building sand castles on the sand. Do you have a place like this from your childhood?
A Moment In Time II is an expressive abstracted seascape based off The Basin at Rottnest Island, Western Australia. I spent time here every year as a child while on holidays with my family. I remember the aqua blues of the water, diving off the rocks into the deeper water in the middle during high tide and building sandcastles on the sand. Acrylic on quality canvas, it has a beautiful oak frame and is ready to hang.
